Hi,
Has anybody gone from using FPGAs for a hobby to actually making real money? How did you do it?
I've been thinking of reselling dev boards for the local market (there is no outlets in this country) but given the cost of US$100 for what I guess are the volume products, and the tiny market (which I estimate at maybe 200 units a year for this country of 4M, given) it's not much money, not even enough to cover business start-up costs.
So, I guess the other way is to offer design / prototype services, or offer equipment and services for 'elective' courses at colleges - for example have a batch of 20 dev boards that are rented to high schools / community colleges to allow them to have a lab / workshop for students, then sell them boards.
Anybody got any ideas / feedback?
