I'm trying to transition from an 8-bit VGA output to 24-bit VGA output. The former was using 3-bit Red, 3-bit Green, and 2-bit Blue through R/2R D-A converters.
I need to do 8-bit conversion for all 3 colors. Does anyone have suggestions/solutions for the output stage? It's hard to find D-A's and OpAmps that can keep up with the pixel clock (~66MHz) and aren't SMD.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

http://www.analog.com/en/digital-to-analog-converters/video-encoders/adv7123/products/product.html is great. It's of course SMD, but you could try http://schmartboard.com/ products to help you with that.
