noob; software for Xilinx ML507 board

Postby tmessu » Mon Jan 25, 2010 5:39 pm

Hi all.

I just got my first FPGA dev board, the ML507 with Virtex-5 FPGA (XC5VFX70TFFG1136).
I checked the ISE WebPACK software only to notice that it doesn't list the FX70 model as a supported device.
Is there any other way to get VHDL into the device, other that the $3k ISE?

According to Xilinx's website, that board is shipped with a device-locked version of ISE that should allow you to program it.

Except that I was cheap and got this one: http://www.xilinx.com/products/devkits/ ... -UNI-G.htm
It does state that "Development tools and PC download cable are not included and must be ordered separately", but at that time I thought that it wouldn't matter =)

The only thing I can suggest is to contact Xilinx and explain the situation. Perhaps they'll send you the device-locked version of ISE that you'll need. Unless the $1000 price differential pays for the software...

The free Webpack always leaves out the higher end FPGAs.

Good luck
