Generate .rbf Files for Pluto II

Postby goldscarabeus » Wed Jul 18, 2007 2:51 pm

Hi everybody,
I bought a Altera Pluto II board. I need to test it with some simple projects like the Music projecto of fpga4fun.com.
I download the Quartus II web edition but the evaluation license block the output files generation.
Anyone know another software or a kind of free license that can permit me to compile the .v file and obtain the .rbf file so then I can download .rbf into my FPGA???

Thanks.

Quartus II web edition is the only software that you need (and the only one that can generate rbf files anyway).
If it doesn't generate rbf files, it is in evaluation mode (your license isn't working). Check the "Tools/License setup" in Quartus to see what is going on. You can get a free working license from Altera website.

Thank you so much!
But I found the problem.
After four license request then Altera send me a valid license file!!!
Probably the other files were corrupted and then Quartus II didn't recognize the license.

I reregistered and the [eva] disappeared in licensing tools but Quartus II still isn't outputting an rbf.

Thanks in advance for the help.

To generate RBF files, you have to enable it.
Check chapter 6 of the Pluto doc.

That i was hitting start analysis & synthesis instead of compile. I thought this meant it was checking syntax before compiling it. Now I know . . . I have to look into what that button actually does.
