Plut-II rev-F, boot-PROM verify fails

Postby mosgood » Wed Jun 04, 2008 9:36 pm

I finally fired up my Pluto-II, Rev-F board for the first time but have run into a problem. I am using FPGAconf, Ver: 2.09.01 with a TXDI without the MAX232 to program. Configure FPGA works fine but when I try to Program the boot-PROM the verify step fails. The result is is that I am not able to program and thus run from the boot-PROM. One last detail, I am using a 9VDC power supply. Help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, Mark

Check "17.2 Boot-PROM problem?" in the current doc.

Boot-Prom Verify Fails

Postby mosgood » Thu Jun 05, 2008 2:25 pm

Thanks for the reply. The clock speed set in FPGAconf is set to 25MHz and this matches the oscillator speed on the board. I tried the SerialRxTx Project and it works fine, Rx and Tx working. Quartus-II is set to "Active Serial". So, I've checked everything I can think of. Any further suggestions?

Thanks, Mark

If verify fails, that means the communication works but unreliably. Are you using a laptop computer? sometimes the RS232 levels out of laptops are weak.

Thanks. I tried it on a desktop machine (Dell Optiplex GX280) and everything worked fine. For reference the laptop that didn't work is a Dell Precision M4300. Can you suggest a USB-Serial adapter that is known to work? Thanks again.

I don't have any USB-to-serial cable to recommend, sorry.
