pluto3+txdi not working

Postby borisdekat » Mon Oct 15, 2007 7:50 pm

Hi I am a new user and I am not able to get pluto3 and TXDI working (unable to program) with rs232 progam interface.

Tried it with 3 different PC's all same result...

Any hints appreciated ...

I did:

- Connected TXDI with pluto3 via the supplied white cable
- Hooked it up to a 8V powersupply (I do see approx. 100mA)
- Checked voltage on red wire = 5V
- LED's on TXDI are on
- Jumper in "B' position
- LED's on Pluto "glow"
- Ran FPGAconfig with pluto3_ledblink.rbf
- One LED on pluto is blink fast other blinking slow during program
- After beep: both LED's glow i.e. no good ...
- of course I have checked the manual and website :-)
- tried Program boot-prom: time out error...

What did I do wrong ?

Thanks in advance

Boris

Looks good but try the jumper on the other position.
If it doesn't help, send me an email (jean@fpga4fun.com), we can try a few things.

That did the trick ! Everything ok now.

Just for my education and curiousity..., what does this jumper do/set ? and why is in the manual stated that it should be at the "B" position ?

Thanks a lot,

Boris

Some TXDI layout have the jumper inverted.

The jumper is there to switch between a Pluto board or a Saxo/Xylo (basically, a Pluto wants the TxD signal directly, while a Xaxo/Xylo wants the signal to go through the MAX232). I need to create a doc (or a page) that explains that better...
